The Outback Tardis Lightning Ridge

Find opal at the back door of our delightfully renovated 20ft caravan, aptly named THE Tardis! Including comfy beds, air con & heating and basic cooking facilities, you will be pleasantly surprised by this unique opalfield 'cara-camping' retreat. A short drive to town and all attractions THE Tardis is just far enough away to be peaceful but close enough to be accessible Your guests Rebel Michael are locals with many passions. Please note we do not accept pets onsite.

You will be staying on the edge of the opalfields with genuine Lightning Ridge locals!
Your digs are a tastefully and lovingly renovated 20ft caravan we call THE Tardis, which has two single beds and a kitchenette. It has been painted with insulating paint and is equipped with fabulous heating and air conditioning. The comfortable spring beds are lovingly made with crisp organic cotton linen in summer and warm organic flannelette in winter! Organic cotton towels and spares for the bore baths. There is a bar fridge, double burner gas cooktop, 12v lighting and running (Cold) water. We've a lovely library of books - we encourage swapping and there are comfy chairs outside for enjoying the night sky or afternoon drinks. A shared BBQ area makes for great outdoor cooking and you are welcome to pick herbs and veg from our incredible garden. We also have lots of opal tailings around the place that you are welcome to spec (fossick) - finders keepers unless its a fossil in which case you'll need to negotiate with Michael! There is a shared outside shower room its a canvas walled space with a corrugated iron roof fitted out with a 100 year old clawfoot bath and an instant gas hot water service. Toilet is outside the Tardis (inside a corrugated iron building), it's a flush loo which occasionally has friendly frogs. If you are squeamish about frogs, don't want to hear the occasional dog barking (not ours!) or generator running (again, not ours, but we live next to the opalfields) or don't want a caravan camping style experience then THE Tardis is not for you!!
Animals - as we have a dog and Rusty the pig (a gorgeous large boar pig, super friendly, occasionally smelly!), so for everyone's safety, we don't allow other animals.

We've got guest access wifi on site but not in the accommodation.
We have a washing machine if needed.
Guests can wander in our veggie patch and are welcome to dig around - or have a nibble! We also have lots of opal tailings around the place that you are welcome to spec in - finders keepers unless its a fossil in which case you'll need to negotiate with Michael

Lightning Ridge is a unique place and our home and THE Tardis space reflects that. It's a little bit like camping, only with a few important mod cons, so please come with an open mind! We are welcoming you to our home and also a space that is a working food garden/community space, so sometimes there is a lot going on, which means there could be things around (eg building equipment) or activities (eg a concert) that mean it’s not always the ‘pristine presentation’ of our ideal, but there’s always understanding, appreciation and respect and we enjoy reciprocity!
